Barn II is a small, 8x10 Acrylic painting of a barn, and was created as a part of Dark Days, featuring barns as the first section of the project, which focused on nostalgic, and comfortable atmospheres placed in eerie types of lighting. This later evolved into the rest of Dark Days, which focused more on home, and a personal representation of neighborhoods and nostalgic areas. This is part of a series titled Dark Days, which sought to utilize elements of my neighborhood and what I considered nostalgic and home-like landscapes at night. It was partially to deal with the fact that I'd be moving away to Greensboro shortly after making these.
I paint in acrylic predominantly with Golden Acrylics, however I also utilize Liquitex, and even Liquitex Basics for underpaintings. For this particular series, I always start with a black gesso'd canvas, preferring to work reductively and only add lights, rather than darks. Barn II has not been showcased anywhere, this painting was given as a gift to a fellow practicing artist.
