Inner Workings is a Self Portrait created in 2018 in Acrylic. It is a 16"x20" portrait on stretched canvas.
The goal of the project was to take yourself and, in some way, turn expectations of either the sitter, or the sitter's personality on its head. I decided to present a shorter haired, more confident version of myself, pulling back hair to reveal a loomis head (a particular style of drawing heads that we studied over the semester) to emphasize that there was more internally than what was painted on the surface. This piece is part of a series of Portrait pieces done in 2018 for my Portrait Painting class.
Inner Workings was in the Student Juried show of 2019, and was showcased around March to June of last year. It was a great opportunity to showcase work, and it was my final year that I could submit to CPCC's juried shows.
This piece is not for sale currently. If I'm being honest, this is mostly because it feels weird selling a stranger a shirtless self portrait of myself. I am however, more than happy to commission portraits for people, and have done so recently.
