Oh, Wonder is my first Lithography print made in 2020, it is about 8"x11". The project was to utilize portraiture in a way that captured the concept of a word. In this case, my word was Wonder, or the Sublime. I chose to create wonder within the audience, creating the action of wondering. I did this by manipulating the positioning, lines, and anatomical structure of the figure. Moreover, I wanted to go for a little extra impact, and chose to utilize Wonder as the Sublime, creating something that is seemingly beautiful, but also has these moments of terror and/or impending sense of wrongness.
Oh, Wonder is on display at the Kinston Community Council of the Arts from now until March 28th, as a part of the 38th Annual Competitive Juried Competition.
