Measure Up was designed from a series of stream of consciousness drawings.
Measure Up is the female form, distorted and overlapping one another, imposed over the motifs of a ruler, it's supposed to represent the confines to which the gender is restricted to by much of popular media. I'm a man, so while I do not fully understand these sorts of restrictions and the expectations, I bear witness to it everyday in the news, in readings, in my experiences with men and women and how they see eachother. This piece is sort of about that internalized vulnerability. A lot of my work deals with the female figure, and usually, empowering the female figure in some sort of way. However, here, I decided to showcase some of the vulnerability instead. I think true strength is being unafraid to show true vulnerability as well.
She can currently be found on Etsy, while copies of her remain, here. She is a limited print, and I have already sold many copies of her, but I will stop at 100, minus an Artist Print. Get her while she's available!
