It was such a wonderful experience to come out and sell work for CHarlotte Reflect!
I met new people, I sold some work, I met great artists, new sources of inspiration, saw a fashion show, heard some amazing new local music! It was just a great experience all around. I got some valuable experience, and all of the hardware necessary, for booth setups, save for a large 10x10 tent, and stuff for larger festivals. I'm super excited about this, because it gives me the opportunity to bring my art to local events, and I am in the process of applying for the Starving Artist Market here in Charlotte! Here's hoping I get in and get a chance to experience a different type of market! I actually had people telling me I should RAISE my prices. Can you believe that? I've spent a lot of my history creating art and having it valued less by people, but here I was, valuing my artwork too little! It was just nice to know that these customers would still be customers at higher price points. That being said, because of my focus on accessibility, I likely won't change my pricing model unless it's absolutely necessary! I can go to another RAW Artists tour somewhere out of state because of my tour incentive, this means I can do a show without a ticketed event, so I have at least one more show with RAW and I'm super excited to redeem it and see how my experiences are in that one! I'll keep you guys updated on that and how it turns out! I'm excited to bring you more events soon. I'm hoping my next post is a post about the wiring, framing, and set-up for Leon's Salon. After that, I might have news of a new showcase, and then finally, I'll post something about my shared show in Legion Brewing as well!

Hey guys, its been a really hectic week!
So, last Friday, I found out that tickets are available only until February 20th! After which you can ONLY purchase them at the door for $30... I had planned to go through and personally notify everybody, but my computer fried as I got back in Charlotte! I've spent the last week figuring out and coordinating getting my laptop repaired, finding out it can't be repaired, scrambling to recover the files on it, and hitting every obstacle in the book! I will have my files recovered by the end of this week, and I just got a new computer. I'm both excited about the new things and my wallet is crying quite a bit. Anyhow, I've got good news! I'm pleased as punch to announce that I've found a few potential showcases that I will be mentioning in the not so distant future, there are four or five that may or may not be happening at the end of this month, and if they work out, it'll be a really great experience. These will give me opportunities to showcase art in both the Charlotte AND Greensboro area, much earlier than I previously anticipated. Here's hoping my stroke of bad luck is followed by good luck... I'm hoping to showcase a few more Prints oriented shows, but I also hope to showcase some ceramics, portraiture, and drawing! What does that mean for you guys? Expect to see more work! More posts! More products! New products! New ideas! Hey Guys, to sort of establish some routine, I'm going to start updating weekly with a sort of review of what's to come, and what I've gotta do.
This coming week, I will be spending a lot of time packing and preparing to move to Greensboro for UNCG! I'm not sure what I'll get done in that time frame, but I am hoping to have something substantial to show by the end of the week! Right now, I am working on a few different things. Currently, I'm working on the initial drawings for Saggitarius and Scorpio and hope to have them finished and ready to edit soon. I'm also hoping to start drawing the second piece for the Floral Design Series, Dandelion. Also, the Nautical Design Series has a piece in brainstorming stages, I'm thinking it will be the Whale piece, although both Whale and Great White are ready to start working on. Finally, I'm working on converting the Dark Horoscopes series into suitable Stickers, and I'm also drawing a few Limited Print Designs. I'll have something to show by the end of the week, don't worry. Hopefully, I will also have a few new listings, I'm hoping to upload more of my Printmaking Work, and add more to this site's portfolios. Happy New Years Eve to everybody and a Happy New Year first off!
I'm excited to continue the Free Sticker with any purchase deal, this time, with the code NEWYEAR! Available until the 10th! This is a special code for people who read my blog, I don't put it anywhere else. I have a few resolutions I want to share with you, since this site is both my personal portfolio, and Artimis' Studio's current home. I really want to make a difference, to do that, I need income. My resolution for this year is to put more into this shop and hopefully bring it to a decent level, where I make periodic sales throughout each month! My goals include lowering the costs of shipping and packaging products, and finding better products and quality improvements that can improve the experience. I'm hoping to use the future success of this shop as a means to both help fund my education and donate money towards causes, which I will do at the end of the year, depending on how substantial my sales are. I'd like to do targeted causes, such as a specific print's proceeds going to a specific cause, however, I won't have the volume to be able to do that for a while, but hopefully I'll be able to make a difference in this way as this grows! Thanks for any support you give. If you like what you see or what you hear, please follow, or send my info to friends. Your support is the life and blood of a small business like this and thank you so much for reading stuff on my blog too :) This is sort of an off-topic post but it's interesting how much Social Media has changed since I last really tried to use it.
First off, starting a new Tumblr was a silly idea, and so far nothing has come out of it. It might be because of the whole porn ban thing that happened recently and my timing is bad, but, whereas Tumblr used to feel more like Instagram, lately it feels like I'm sending a post off into the Abyss. I think I'm pretty decent with tagging, but Tumblr just seems so vast and empty for me. Which is odd cuz I had more success a few years back. The same issue with Twitter, I feel like people don't ever come across my posts, whereas you used to get instant feedback. I've noticed, along with this, all of these social media outlets are pushing this advertising/promotion thing onto us. Like, hey I know we used to let people see your stuff, but then we realized we can hide it from people and charge you to show it to them. It kind of defeats the purpose of "Social" Media if nobody sees anything without you bypassing a paywall... That being said, Instagram and my personal Facebook seem to be going well, and my Etsy gets a good amount of views for being 3 days old. I'll keep at it, but has anybody else noticed how much more difficult it seems to be to start something and get any notice? Occassionally I'll post off-topic stuff, hopefully it's sorta interesting, I know this one isn't! |
