Hey guys, it's been a while but I am currently working on a few big things!
I graduate in Spring, 2021, and paired with my honors project, final exhibition, general schoolwork, and the pandemic, I've sorta fell off from updating and keeping track of my online presence. I am currently working on that, and have been adapting projects for the current normal. So, my current plans are to finish uploading older works to Displate and RedBubble. Please check them out, give me a follow if you can, and see the current submissions, such as the Floral and Nautical design series! There is currently a sale on Displate as well, so it's the perfect time to snag something there! While I am doing this for the next week or two, I plan to post periodically. I will be reviving my Facebook, and focusing on a bi-weekly post on Facebook. I will be posting weekly on this blog, and I plan to do that every Saturday or Sunday. I will also be posting on Pinterest and Instagram more regularly. Once my social media is reinvigorated and back into a part of my routine, I will post more. I am also working on a few BIG projects I can't share yet, but I think people will be excited to WEAR something soon :P THIS WEEK'S GOALS:

So, this week, my classes are officially suspended until March 23rd. NC declared a state of emergency, and shortly after, all UNC related schools are suspending classes after Friday. Many of my classes will resume after this time in an online format, as will any of my studio classes which can convert in time. I think this is a smart decision to prevent things from getting out of hand too quickly, and to completely stop the virus in its tracks, however, I think it disrupts a lot of people's lives and routines and I am hopeful that everybody remembers those with compromised immune systems are in danger as long as this remains a threat. Please be mindful of everybody to which this virus is potentially fatal.
This whole event super unfortunate on the one hand, as it means many of the exhibitions I have planned are going to be pushed back and/or possibly cancelled. It also means some of my markets might get cancelled. I will continue to update the site as information becomes available, and I will try to keep you guys updated. The good news is this means I now have a large chunk of time to devote to the process of fully updated and renovating the site, creating individual art pages, expanding what is already on the site, and curating the site more. I'm excited for the opportunity to devote time here, and on Etsy. This should mean a lot of progress on the site, as I add in more functionality. Right now I have a few goals: Individual Pages for Art: I want to create individual pages for art which showcase the artwork, related images, and relevant show information and links to things such as Work in progress, blog posts, and other stuff. This will hopefully give people a lot more to look at and experience, and while I can't create an experience as impactful as one in person, I can at least provide context, inspiration, and tidbits of visual interest to compliment the work. Here is an example of what I am going to be doing for each individual image on the site. Blog and Site Organization: I am currently working on creating much more concise, and better ways of tagging work, and allowing people to search through my work in a way that they like. In order to do this, I will be dividing work into things like Mediums, Series, and Genre/Styles, which will all be accessible through the menu at the top of each page. Ideally, this will allow a bit better control over what each person wants to see who comes to my site. This is due largely to the fact that I create such a broad spectrum of work, across many mediums. Overall, my goals focus on accessibility, and user experience. As such, please feel free to critique any changes, or if you'd like to see specific changes, please do not hesitate to message me. As an artist, I want to be able to present my work in a way that makes it as accessible to my audience as possible. I am currently in the process of revamping various aspects of the website and my Etsy. I am hoping to have these done and fully implemented by the end of March, so the website will be a little wonky for the next few weeks, with new content and major changes happening throughout.
I am hoping to create a more central Announcement Page on the Home Page which will conveniently detail recent Shows, upcoming Markets, and important updates currently happening. This is more useful for people viewing the home page, which will immediately give them relevant information. I realized, as a viewer, that the website's homepage is simple and shows art immediately, but it doesn't really show what's happening, or where to find the art, so I'm making changes to that. I will be reviving the blog here, and focusing on making it a more interesting feature of the website, rather than just a place where I mention updates (like this one!). I'm not sure what I'll be doing, but I'm hoping to get a semi regular schedule of posts going, I am thinking this will likely be Fridays or Saturdays. These will include write ups on pieces, inspirations, works in progress, school projects, and other things for people to be able to check out. I will also include my experiences in the professional realm of art such as museums and nonprofits. I'll try to create resources for other artists to utilize as well. This means I will be revamping the categories and simplifying them. I have plans to start hyperlinking and creating individual pages for different pieces of art, and I plan to create a Press page, where I will have active links to information about markets, shows, and stuff about installation and such. I also want to make these pages more well rounded, with writing samples, installation and work in progress pictures on top of the original piece, linking to inspirations and blog posts relating to the piece. I have a lot of work ahead of me, on top of this, I am creating various professional documents, including an art database, and professional letterhead. Many of what I've begun to work on has been motivated by my recent acquisition of the book Art/Work which has been eye opening for how to professionally represent myself as an artist. Hey guys, I got a little market for you guys to enjoy! I'll be a vendor there.
I'm super excited to announce that I was chosen as the winner for a logo design for a literary magazine! This will become the logo for the magazine very soon, and I will be able to post the logo here when the logo has officially been unveiled! I can't wait to show you guys. This is an important step in the Design direction of Artimis Studio and my arts practice.
As many of you know, I like to be able to put on many hats. Illustration, Painting, Printmaking, Design, Game Concept Art, Comics are all interests I'd like to explore throughout my creative career, and so I constantly make steps towards whichever presents the right opportunities! I'll be unveiling this logo sometime in the next few months, so make sure to check back often! I will also be linking this magazine and its official site and publication shortly after the unveiling! |
