Edit: Added in hyperlinking to individual pages for each of the pieces, these individual pages will be added for all work on the site over the next week or two, enjoy!
Hey guys, I'm also part of another show coming up in Charlotte, NC in the Novant Health center being built near Park Road. These are a few pieces that are part of a much older abstraction series made in 2016 as part of one of my Studio classes. They deal largely with experimentation, environment, and the use of repeated forms. It also deals with the use of unique materials, such as saran wrap and liquid starch, as printing mediums. From left to right, they are titled Eclipse, Night Structure, and Coffee & Cola. You can check them out in Charlotte for a limited time. Eclipse and Coffee & Cola are also now in thicker, sturdier frames similar to the one that Night Structure is in. This was due to the fact that they needed to be wired, and would be hung for a longer period of time than other shows. One thing in particular I miss from this series, and hope to find appropriate work to bring it back into my process is the use of white frames with black mats, I really like the aesthetic. I've got a couple more shows and markets coming up, so my posts for a while will largely be focused on keeping people update on these shows and getting back into the groove of posting regularly.

You can check out a number of my pieces in a show in Kinston right now. It will be up until March 28th. I have 2 pieces that were juried into the show successfully, and 1 piece that is still on view in the bottom galleries. This was a super cool exhibition, and there's so many pieces that were dropped off and showcased in this beautiful old building. If you get the chance, absolutely go check it out. I chose to drive down and support them after seeing that they still showcased pieces that were not juried in, I felt that this fit in with my personal desire to provide exhibition opportunities for children and student artists. The first one is titled Oh, Wonder, a Lithograph. The other two which are on display are titled C No EvL, a 3 color screen print, and Jackelopes, a linocut. Each of them are currently available for $75, and I have multiples within an edition. Here’s Week Three of the Drawings, I’m glad I got to start off fairly strong, because immediately afterwards I ran out of time due to commissions, school work, and other responsibilities. It’s fun how varied it ends up being, this week I drew three illustrations from a series featuring Animal Skulls, Drew from Imagination, then from Observation, Sketched a figure with an abstract design that I’ll probably never use again, and I drew some hands from observation. As you might see, I use a mixture of drawing from observation and imagination in my work, and I think the first three really encompass that in whole, whereas the rest of the week shows those parts and how they piece together! Sorry about being delayed on this, I’m trying to find internships and opportunities to showcase other work, but I’ll make sure to continue updating don’t worry! There might just be a couple times where I get a few days behind! as a reminder you can find me on social media @Artimis Studio :D Missed Wednesday, I'll get into the groove of this, I'm hoping to be more routine about posts to make it easier to follow my blog.
This set of weekly drawings has a good amount of variety to it, featuring drawings from observation, imaginative drawings, and quick sketching & thumbnails. I missed Saturday, but usually I plan on having posts where I write like this every Saturday and Wednesday if I can! Pictured in order is Land, 2 Pinterest Drawings, The Squid Woman, The Bull Woman, & Two Cloud Thumbnail Pages The middle two are probably my most consistently drawn things. Animals skulls and tentacles as hair. Although their figure is boring and static, this is largely due to them being a single figure and mostly focused on the design and symbolism, rather than the figures. I’m hoping to elaborate on each, with multi figure scenes and dynamic poses in the future. The thumbnails are a super important aspect of creation. If you don’t make thumbnails, you’re missing out on a powerful tool for an artist. I use thumbnails to rapidly brainstorm compositions and ideas, without worrying about if the composition is ‘good’ or detail or any sort of burden that might slow down the creative process. These thumbnails are often excellent bases to jump off of for creating future drawings. I've begun drawing Daily Drawings again, and I've added the first week below. In order, they are: Contrails, Mermaid, Cumulus Child, Lady Death, Spring, Sea, and Air This has been a really fun experience, daily drawings allow me to create and explore multiple ideas very quickly, and I've created a lot of stuff I'm satisfied with this weak, particularly the Cloud Woman and the beginnings of the Land Air and Sea triptych. I'll continue to update with new posts each week, these will be available under my Drawing Page |
